'REBORN ANIMAL RIDES' -- An intimate and elegant slab of airy, soporific rhythms and sparsely whispered bedroom glam from NYC-via-Louisville, KY's ever shifting fog-rock union THE PHANTOM FAMILY HALO.

'RAR' marks the 7th full-length (not counting Bonnie "Prince" Billy's collaborative 10" EP) of songs composed and performed under multi-instrumentalist DAHM MAJURI CIPOLLA's PFH denomination. It is also his first collection of songs set for release since 2014's 'Raven Town Witch' LP for SOPHOMORE LOUNGE.

This latest pot of stripped-down seance shanties, however, varies wildly from the street-rock approach of its aforementioned predecessor, finding the outfit in a more reflective state settled somewhere between a Skip Spence attempt at Can 'Soundtracks' and a Canterbury scene-spawned Chrome.

'RAR' was recorded in Gowanus, Brooklyn by MARTIN BISI, known widely for his studio work w/ such artists as Afrika Bambaataa, Sonic Youth, and LYDIA LUNCH (with whom Cipolla recently released the "Family In Mourning" LP) at various times throughout 2017.

In addition to his Phantom Family efforts, Cipolla (now an active member of both WATTER and MONO) can be found on recordings for an assortment of labels over the last decade & change, including Quarterstick, 4AD, Siltbreeze, and Temporary Residence.

'Reborn Animal Rides' is available via EXTREMELY LIMITED 12" pressing of 150 copies (housed in hand-stamped white envelopes) on Sophomore Lounge.

DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THIS TRUSTY COMBO PACK FROM NYC-VIA-KY'S FAVORITE FOLK-DAMAGED PSYCH UNIT PROTO-PUNKS - THE PHANTOM FAMILY HALO! Contains the following items for your enjoyment (and safety)...

$30.00

'THE LEGEND OF BLACK SIX' LP (Black Velvet Fuckere, 2006) -- "I’m right blown away by the catchy and compelling all-purpose psychedelia of THE LEGEND OF BLACK SIX by power trio The Phantom Family Halo. I say ‘all purpose’ because this stuff is useful and should be available by the vat on prescription, because it’s good for the mental health. I say power trio, but this lot are greedy motherfuckers with a hefty set of auxiliary members. The sound is totally reminiscent of that 1970 period when no fucker could control the number of overdubs, and these guys pass through every stage from The Youngbloods and Kalackakra to a kind of Amon Duul PARADIESWARTS DUUL-informed take on David Voorhaus’ White Noise project via early (very early) Chrome on their way to the proto metal of ‘Electric God In Your Galaxy’." - Julian Cope, Head Heritage

'HURRICANE FIGHTER PLANE' 7" (Sophomore Lounge, 2009) -- An ill-advised yet fondly remembered split between two largely unknown acts (PFH & Chicago's underground noise-funk maniacs MEAH!) from two different cities that didn't know each other and sound nothing alike, pressed in an inexplicably large edition of 500 copies -- talk about a recipe for financial success! Features PFH's charmingly bare-boned, no-bullshit take on the Red Crayola classic "Hurricane Fighter Plane" (released w/ blessing from Mr. Thompson himself, mind you).

'RAVEN TOWN WITCH' LP (Sophomore Lounge, 2014) -- "Phantom Family Halo's "Raven Town Witch" is a slinky and sinister Southern Gothic brew evoking early glam, psychedelia ala Krautrockers Brainticket, hand claps reminiscent of '60's girl groups, Roxy Music's "In Every Dream Home a Heartache," and yet somehow manages to remain unpredictably timeless. The perfect record for the party after the after party or a raucous late night ritual in celebration of your inner witch." - Lydia Lunch

'REBORN ANIMAL RIDES' (Sophomore Lounge, 2018) -- An intimate and elegant slab of airy, soporific rhythms and sparsely whispered bedroom glam from NYC-via-Louisville, KY's ever shifting fog-rock union. This latest pot of stripped-down seance shanties varies wildly from the street-rock approach of its predecessor, finding the outfit in a more reflective state settled somewhere between a Skip Spence attempt at Can 'Soundtracks' and a Canterbury scene-spawned Chrome. Released in a super-limited edition of 150 copies, housed in hand-stamped/numbered white envelopes. For fans of: Roxy Music's 'Avalon Tapes,' Faust, Nikki Sudden, et al.
