After attracting attention from 'Werewolf Ballads', Slithering Beast didn't slow down its prolific songwriting habits. While supporting the first full-length release, ten new songs were written and arranged throughout the winter and spring of 2008. New tracks were finally recorded in their Jeffersonville, Indiana studio that summer, resulting in a completed collection which was soon to be titled 'Midnight Royalty'. This newest offering differs from those prior because of its more complex instrumental arrangements and sharply reflective lyrics, as well as its more mature tone. The music stays on page with the original country influences of the band, but also draws from Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys, The Band, and contemporaries such as Leslie Feist. Overall, 'Midnight Royalty' only furthers the progress that the band has continually made since its inception and is the first release completely recorded and engineered by Dittmeier and Slithering Beast themselves.
