"Blame It On Me" |
The Knee-Jerk Reaction sits at the back of the bar, dim lit booth, gin and tonic in tow. He sips slowly as the day light creeps in. The barkeep, droopy old faced man knows exactly how he likes his drink, pours another, no questions. He has been coming to this same joint for years now, with it's faux leather and cheetah print carpets. This place is gorgeous, it's home. Home to hundreds of other bruised, heartbroken romantics who let the city beat em' down. Who too had dreams of fame and glory. Now they sit, gaudy, cheap, vapid, just like him.
"Blame It On Me" is Gabriel DeSanto's first effort filed under the moniker The Knee-Jerk Reaction. The album reads as an apology. It's end times. Maybe this story sounds familiar? Chasing the dream until it stings. Recorded in an array of private residences in the haunted city of Louisville, KY and finished in Philadelphia, PA. "Blame It On Me" paints a picture of lovers held up in hotel rooms, traveling rock n' rollers ripped off by nightclub doormen and an aching heart that won't quit. "Blame It On Me" is the proverbial juke joint. The Knee-Jerk Reaction has made a blood oath with rock n' roll. Industry execs, big wigs, they all stand in the back of the crowd and watch as the performer loses his last shred of dignity. Welcome to Disneyland.
"I am a prisoner of a gaudy and unlivable present, where all forms of human society have reached an extreme of their cycle and there is no imagining what new forms they may assume" - Italo Calvino
